Policemen fired shots to disperse the protesters and arrested a number of them
A non-governmental organisation, the The Human Rights Agenda Network (HRAN), has joined voices with those calling on the Lagos state government to reverse the tuition fees hike at Lagos State University (LASU)
The Coordinator of HRAN, Mrs Ijeoma Okwor, in a statement issued in Abuja said it is denying many students the opportunity of getting an education.
"We have noted with sadness that this trend is gradually denying poor students the opportunity to study and make a better life for themselves,” she said.
She also condemned the recent attack on protesting LASU students by police officers.
"Intimidation against citizens by security officers charged with the responsibility of protecting lives and properties does not and cannot reflect a true democratic setting,” she said.
Meanwhile, Lagos State University Students’ Union (LASUSU) have vowed to keep protesting.
